One of the biggest problems with
the most dangerous consequences African park rangers face today is an absence
of tactical and medical training. They are often put in the field with little
to no knowledge of small unit tactics and in most cases completely lack any
first aid or field medical skills. For instance four rangers were killed when
they and other rangers failed to set up an effective ambush on a group of
poachers in Kenya, 2012.
